Top 8 Street Dance Battle - Development Outreach Program - Limerick
Top 8 Street Dance Battle will be carrying out developmental workshops series in 4 major cities across Ireland and Northern Ireland to further authentically develop the ever-growing and vibrant Street Dance and Hip-hop culture here in Ireland.
We will be partnering up with a diverse group of artists and collectives to lead these workshops in the areas of
Street Dance (Breaking & Hip-Hop)
MCs (Rappers & Beatboxers)
Djs (Turntablist)
Graffiti Artists
we will also have an after-party (+18) following the development sessions.
The workshops and the after-party are free to the public, but have limited capacity and require registration.

1st April 2023
Street Dance WORKSHOP (Breaking & Hip-Hop)
Location: IRISH AERIAL CREATION CENTRE (IACC)
Time: 12pm – 1:30pm
Capacity: 20
This workshop will introduce those that attend the dance element of the culture. The invited street dance artists will focus on the foundational technique, form, and history of the artform and how to authentically express using this form. This session will conclude with an introduction to what a street dance battle is and its purpose within the culture. Open to all to participate or just to simply observe.
MCs (Rappers)
Location: Dry Lane Studios
Time: 2pm – 3:30pm
Capacity: 10
This workshop will be held by an invited MC (Microphone Controller) that will teach those that attend the art of writing, rhyming, cadences, and flow. The session will also touch on a different aspect of what an MC does from the perspective of the culture. This session will then conclude later during the day with a recorded MC Cypher from Kill the beat TV hosted by Native TV with limerick invited MCees.
DJ (Turntablism)
Location: Dry Lane Studios
Time: 2pm – 3:45pm
Capacity: 5
The DJ workshop will be open to those who are willing to learn the art form of Disk Jockeying where they learn the introduction to how to beat match, basic scratching patterns and tempo controls. This session will be held by one of Southwest leading turntablist.
Graffiti (Street Art)
Location: arthurs quay
Time: 12pm-6pm
This will be held outdoors at Authors Quay in the heart of Limerick city. Where Limerick-based graffiti artists and street art artists will paint live murals, while on looker or whoever is willing can participate in the workshops where they will learn cans & brush control and font/tags styles.
after party - Over 18’s Social Gathering
LOCATION: THE COMMERCIAL (THE REC ROOM)
TIME: 10PM - LATE
This will be hosted by Ireland's leading DJ from Limerick city, Ciara O’callaghan AKA DJ CC where she will invite other Djs from different walks of life to grace the ears of those in attendance with a range of world music from 90s Hip-hop & RnB to Afrobeats to Amapiano to Irish rap.
